POSH Salt

POSH Salt Originator and Hand Crafter of Himalayan Salt Cooking Slabs That was Laura's vision and she staked her 20+ year career as a full time attorney on it.

POSH Salt (tm) which is short for Primordial Ocean Salt Himalaya (tm) introduced the notion of "Fooding Your Salt" to the culinary world in 2004, when its Founder, Laura E Castelli, took the risk of importing a 20" container of Pink Himalayan Salt gambling that Chefs and restaurateurs in NYC would be as fascinated with it as she was. At that time no one in the US had heard about this pure, hand mi

ned, mineral rich, 500 million year old variety of salt let alone imagined that boulders of it could be cut into plates and slabs for Chefs to serve and cook food on. She enlisted her husband Jerry to become the company's "Master Saltcrafter" and her mother Julia to provide the financial backing and the trio started cutting and selling their Saltware (tm) to some of the country's most celebrated Chefs. The more that they handled and experimented with their 48,000 pounds of pink boulders, the more they discovered about the unique qualities of their salt and the uses it could be put to. They instructed Chefs that their reusable Saltware (tm) could be chilled to serve and keep food cold as well as heated to cook or sear any food imaginable. Mario Batali, David Burke and Fortunato Niccotra used POSH Saltware (tm) to battle on Iron Chef America; Daniel Boulud, Michel Richard, Grey Kunz and Tom Colicchio used it in their restaurants; it received accolades for its flavor and functionality from national and local media; and sparked a nation wide interest in Himalayan Salt. Salt, in general has become an increasingly popular commodity; however, even before Chefs and consumers alike started their insatiable love affair with salts of every form, flavor and locale POSH Salt (tm) was truly a culinary trailblazer in inventing an entirely new way to use salt. Hence, our motto, "Don't Forget to Food Your Salt". There are companies that have emerged, including former clients and resellers, that loved our innovation so much that they have attempted to immitate our products and forget that POSH Salt (tm) was and will always be the inventor and true authority on Himalayan Salt. We are still a small family run business that is as passionate and dedicated as ever to providing the finest quality artisan salt available; and we genuinely appreciate all of our fans and customers for their loyalty and support. With you, the POSHibilities are endless!!!

We had a great time at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. We opened the Festival with Chef Alisa Malavenda demonstrating how to cook her beautiful "Fire & Ice" appetizer to an eager crowd at the First Bites reception. Then we had the pleasure of sharing tips and techniques on how to serve and cook all sorts of yummy dishes on POSH Saltware at the Authentic Taste Lecture Series. We saw a lot of familiar faces who have been following us at the Festival for years and made a lot of new freinds too. We'll be posting pics over the next few days so come back and check them out!
