Greek pastries go great with tea!

On Sundays, we celebrate Lakewood’s incredible small business community. Located at 11823 Detroit Avenue, Despina's Bakery offers fresh authentic Greek bakery and food.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Despina’s Bakery! Opened since early March, Despina’s specializes in Greek classics including sweet and savory baked goods and a convenient grab and go selection of breakfast and lunch foods. Owner Despina Sarantopoulou, learned Greek cooking from her mother and hopes to bring the authentic flavors that she grew up with – fresh herbs, olive oil, orange, lemon and more – to Lakewood’s community. Despina moved to Lakewood thirty years ago, where she planted roots and had a family. Both Greece and Lakewood are home to her and her family who are native speakers and visit their second home as frequently as possible. The menu includes Rising Star coffee and staple pastries such as spanakopita (spinach pie), tiropita (cheese pie), dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) with and without meat, Greek meatballs, zucchini balls and options for vegan and vegetarians. The dessert menu features baklava, Greek yogurt with honey, finikia (cookie), galaktoboureko (custard pie) and more, baked fresh daily. She also offers custom platters including dessert and appetizer trays for all of life’s special occasions (please order by phone three days ahead). Despina’s Bakery menu changes seasonally. Coming soon is a Greek salad with fresh tomatoes. Stay tuned to their social media for menu updates.
