This is not the kind of thing we want to focus on, or start your week out with…. But we cannot keep silent. It’s not the 1 star review that hurts, it’s the hateful slander and accusatory remarks at the end.
We are confident that the testimonies of the people we’ve been serving for decades will shine and reveal the true nature of our welcoming, loving, inclusive, cozy little restaurant. However….
We will NOT stand for untrue allegations or allusive remarks about perpetuating racism or cultural intolerance. We never thought we’d have to say this, but we would NEVER make food deliberately unenjoyable for ANY guest. The issue with food feels secondary here (food can be remade— we are happy to remake any unsatisfactory orders *always*), as there’s a much bigger issue at hand to address;
One component about our long-time family-run operation that we are most proud of is our eclectic and variegated group of dedicated patrons. We welcome ALL people of South Jersey (& visitors too!) not in spite of their race, gender, s*x, ethnic background, etc. but BECAUSE of who they are and what makes them different; this diversity (among customers & staff alike) makes us strong, and makes us realize the hospitable, welcoming, and respectful atmosphere we have forged over the years. We are proud to serve our beautifully diverse, beautifully unique, beautifully different community.
If you are reading this, we sincerely hope &
pray that you know you belong in our restaurant and we welcome you with enthusiasm and love. If there were ever an incident that did not live up to these standards, we hope that it would be brought to our attention IMMEDIATELY.
