🚨 THANK GOD — HIGHWAY 9 IS BACK OPEN! 🚨
BIG OYSTER RUN TRAFFIC UPDATE — AND THIS ONE IS GOOD NEWS!
🏍️ PLEASE SHARE THIS POST AND HELP GET THE WORD OUT TO RIDERS HEADING TO OYSTER RUN TOMORROW!
For everyone heading to Anacortes tomorrow for the 43rd@Oyster Run, we have an important update to the Highway 9 traffic alert we've been sharing this week:
SR 9 AT LAKE CREEK BRIDGE IS OPEN!
The full closure near Lake McMurray was originally scheduled to remain in place through Wednesday, September 30, which would have put Highway 9 out of commission for Oyster Run weekend.
But crews got it done early.
Work on the Lake Creek Bridge was completed nearly a week ahead of schedule, and Highway 9 fully reopened Thursday, September 24. Crews replaced the deteriorated bridge deck and repaved the roadway.
That means SR 9 through the Lake McMurray area is OPEN for riders heading to and from Oyster Run tomorrow!
⚠️ FERRY RIDERS — THERE'S IMPORTANT NEWS FOR YOU TOO.
Washington State Ferries has issued a special advisory specifically for Oyster Run on Sunday, September 27, warning riders to expect increased motorcycle traffic and possible delays on the Whidbey Island routes.
Mukilteo/Clinton: Because of the expected demand, motorcycles may be directed into the general vehicle line and loaded on a first-come, first-served basis. Give yourself extra time.
Port Townsend/Coupeville: WSF says reservations are the best way to avoid long waits, and riders should expect increased demand.
So the big takeaway for tomorrow:
🔥 HIGHWAY 9 IS OPEN.
🔥 THE LAKE CREEK BRIDGE PROJECT FINISHED EARLY.
🔥 FERRY TRAFFIC WILL BE HEAVY.
🔥 PLAN AHEAD — AND LET'S GO TO OYSTER RUN!
This is exactly the update we were hoping we'd get before Sunday.
Thousands of motorcycles. Downtown Anacortes. The Seattle Cossacks. Vendors. Music. Riders coming in from every direction.
Tomorrow is the 43rd Oyster Run.
For the latest Oyster Run traffic information, event information and Washington motorcycle resources, check the GMRW website.
And one more time — PLEASE SHARE THIS UPDATE. A lot of riders saw the original Highway 9 closure warning this week, and we want to make damn sure they know THE ROAD IS NOW OPEN.
Ride safe, give yourself some extra time, watch for heavy motorcycle traffic throughout Skagit and Island counties — and we'll see you in Anacortes!
Kickstands Up. Don't Miss the Ride.
