From the archives: old Sunset Café menus from several decades and a newspaper article from our 45th anniversary in 1981! 😁👏

Some things that we enjoyed seeing:

🍳 The Number 1 Breakfast was once 70 cents! Although it does look different today
🥗 A trip to the Coal Car Salad Bar was $3.95
🥡 We used to serve Chinese food for one month a year in the 80s-90s!
🥩 A “hearty cut” of prime rib was $10.95 🤯
🤩 We had a variety of “fresh, crisp cereal” to enjoy

Today (Sunday 7/12) is the last day to enjoy raviolis in our dining room 📣 Thank you for celebrating 90 years of history with us!!

A little bit about the history of our restaurant with Joey! 🎉

The Sunset Café & Loose Wolf Saloon was established on July 9th, 1936, and quickly became known for its heritage-based comfort food 🍝🥧

In 1973, Joey’s mother, Bonnie, became a partner with 3 others to tackle the growing restaurant industry. Joey was 24 when he joined in on the partnership 👏

By 1994, the Carter family had bought the entirety of the business from their partners and has had 4 generations working in the decades since 🫶

A few fun facts about the restaurant:

🔥 In 1959, the building burned down (and they were still using a wooden coal range to cook!)
🌙 For many years, we were open 24 hours. Joey & family would clock in at 11 pm to prep for bar crowds
🍝 Famous dishes ever the years have included Fried Chicken & Raviolis (raviolis available this weekend) and Beef Stew (available daily)
🥡 We used to serve Chinese food for one month a year in the 80s-90s, since we didn’t have any in the area back then!
☕️ The original building was much smaller, the size was roughly equivalent to our current coffee shop and restroom. At the time, the restaurant had about 12 seats!

📣 Today through Sunday (7/10-7/12) we’re bringing our scratch-made RAVIOLIS back with salad and bread for $22.95

As Joey mentioned, you can preorder Sunset Raviolis for pick up if you give us a call ahead of time! Please aim for at least 2-3 days notice so we have ample time to prepare ❤️ We have many who order a couple dozen at a time to enjoy as they please at home

90 years ago today the Sunset Café & Quetzal Room opened for the very first time! 🎉🎉🎉

Now known as the Sunset Café & Loose Wolf Saloon, we’ve been serving homemade family recipes since July 9th, 1936, in the heart of Cle Elum, WA 🏔️🍝

We are celebrating all weekend long with RAVIOLIS, special desserts, limited edition t-shirts, and more to come! 🥩🍔

We’re incredibly proud of our four generations of family history working in this business and are immensely grateful for all who’ve supported us over several decades 🤎
