Some recipes deserve a second life. 🍪
These chocolate chip cookies originally came from our family’s coffee shop back in 2009. That shop is long gone, but the recipes were saved because they were just THAT good.
I’ve wanted to bring these cookies back to Coffee On The Corner, but there was one problem: they require a freezer. I tried making them without one, tweaking the recipe and the process every way I could, but they never came close to the original.
Now we finally have a freezer. 👀
I made the dough last night, started testing this morning, and after a few tweaks (and the sacrifice of seven cookies to the cause 🤣) I finally got them.
BIG, gooey centers. Perfectly crisp edges and bottoms. Just enough crunch before they melt in your mouth.
And, I promise, I'm not the only one who thinks they're special. Everyone I've made them for has told me some version of, “I've never had a cookie like this.”
The banana bread we serve is also one of those old family recipes, and I still have the original recipes for peanut butter and praline cookies sitting around too… so who knows what might come back next. 😋
A little piece of our family’s old coffee shop, almost 20 years later.
The 2009 cookie is officially back. 🍪❤️
