It seems like time to give a Slowpoke update. Number one - Joy is loving retirement!
Number two - yes, we are cooking lunch on Wednesdays at Bluebonnet Social, in Cisco.
We love Bluebonnet Social and have been friends for years. We are excited our old building was updated and now serves coffee (Kerry's roasting the beans), breakfast and lunch. It is quickly becoming the community's most popular and comfortable hangout.
This week's Wednesday meal is Meatloaf, cream roasted potatoes and broccoli salad, swedish meatballs on rice with sauted carrots and onions and egg salad sandwich and salad plate. Kerry even made sourdough for the meatballs and egg salad sandwich.
Farm visitors: we have sighted so many new creatures at the farm, maybe because we are home more. Ricky is the roadrunner that's been hanging out in the front yard. We have a screech owl in a tree right outside our kitchen window. Currently he is fighting for his territory from the squirrels and a rat snake. And we re-homed a sweet cat that showed up uninvited. We would have kept him, but Thomas our 10 year old cat was not welcoming at all.
Kerry continues to work at his shop, no telling what he's up to behind closed doors. I do know it has to do with wood, guitars, fiddles and building tools and jigs.
Joy has discovered mahjong. Like our other love, pickleball, it has rewarded her with new friends and fun. Monday's at 9:30 a.m. you will find me playing at Bluebonnet Social with up to 20 other women (of all ages, 20's to 70's).
We hope this spring finds you well, and please know we miss you! Now you know where to find us to say hello.
Be well,
Kerry and Joy
