When specialty cake designers Susan Smith and Danielle Forrester needed a sweet confection for Danielle’s first baby shower nine years ago, against their better judgement the two decided that only a homemade cake would do. So they tied up thier aprons and
went quickly to work. Drawing on years of experience with creative projects of all sorts and with a great deal of artistic passion, the best friends pulled it off. “What were we
thinking,” Susan says in retrospect, “It was a three-tiered design and we had never created anything like that before.” “What a mess,” Danielle adds, “But we had the best time.”
The two aspiring entraupaneures did not know it then, but that ambitious undertaking would eventually become the source of the Cakery Bakery Boutique, a pastry and specialty cake shop that is very close to conceptualzing. “With the help of my mom, Delilah Planck, we are developing our brand and building on our basic batter recipe that custmors can’t seem to get enough of,” says Susan. Currently the team offers more than
eight cake flavors and sixteen specialty fillings alongside some of the most decadent icings and from-scratch fondont in the city. And their creations are just as beautiful as they are delicious. “We are hoping to build our reputation as specialty cake designers so we can, through our sweet treats, bring a lot of charm, glitz and glam to our customer’s occassions.
