This is not a goodbye 👋
Right in the middle of the Pandemic, when companies were exiting downtown offices for home offices we had the crazy idea to signing a lease to occupy the lobby of the Atlas building, in the heart of downtown.
Urban Sites purchased the building earlier in the year with the hopes of building offices, and for us, Urbana to take the lobby.
It was a slow development for us, only few customers after we opened and during the weekends you could hear a pin dropped. Sometimes agonizing but we were hopeful. The same can be said on the Urban Sites side as far as new offices being leased.
It’s been 4 year exactly since we opened at the Atlas building and we have nothing but a tremendous sense of gratitude for our time here and our relationship with Urban Sites. This cafe is special and filled most mornings with laughs, business talks, first dates, to name a few. The Atlas building is so special, it’s hard to put it in words.
Changes are needed and Urban Sites will be building apartments to meet the growing need for dwelling downtown. This means tons of construction and interruptions to our service and both Urban Sites and Urbana don’t want this for our customers.
No goodbyes are being said here my friends. We’re thrilled to share that Contemporary Art Center (CAC) will be our new home for the next 1.5 years.
CAC is more than a building – it is a civic living room for Cincinnati, making it a perfect environment to continue serving our community.
We’re incredibly thankful to CAC’s team for opening their doors and inviting Urbana into a space that reflects the same values we care about: accessibility, curiosity, and bringing people together. We’re excited to serve both our longtime regulars and CAC visitors – whether you’re stopping in before an exhibition, after a program, or just for your daily coffee ritual.
Our plan is to move to CAC in early April, just as construction begins at the Atlas Building. We’ll be sharing updates along the way ( and yes… maybe outdoor seating, too).
