You're Invited to Happen's Flower Garden Ribbon Cutting!
After months of hard work and an incredible community effort, we're excited to celebrate the reopening of Happen's Flower Garden!
Join us on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1618 Chase Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45223.
This beautiful transformation was made possible through the support of Deeper Roots Coffee's Community Giveback Program, which helped raise funds for the project. We'll also be celebrating the many volunteers and partners who made this garden bloom.

Happen’s SPLASH DANCE!
It’s like dancing in the rain with water games, music, and summer fun.
Join us right after the Northside Fourth of July Parade on Saturday, July 4 from 1:30–3:30 PM at Happen’s Outside Space, 1617 Hoffner Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45223.
This is a free event with hot dogs, treats, and of course plenty of water to keep everyone cool and having fun.

Reminder!
Happen's Open Studio will be closed this week as we set up and add the finishing touches on our very first Happen's Tiny Northside Fourth of July Parade!

If you're waiting to pick up your ceramic creations, don't worry! They'll be ready for pickup beginning next week.
Instead, we hope you'll join us for one of Happen's most creative community events yet!

Happen's Tiny Northside Fourth of July Parade
Thursday, July 2
6:00 p.m.

Kids, families, and businesses have transformed N.Y.P.D. Pizza Northside hoagie boxes into amazing miniature parade floats. Watch them travel through a miniature parade diorama of Hamilton Avenue inside Happen's studio, complete with tiny storefronts and a moving conveyor belt that brings the parade to life.
After the parade, all of the floats will remain on display in Happen's front windows for a week-long interactive art installation, where everyone is invited to stop by, admire the creativity, and vote for their favorite float.
We can't wait to share this one-of-a-kind Northside tradition with you. We hope to see you Thursday July 2 at 6:00 p.m.!

There is still time to be part of Happen's newest summer tradition! Saturday is the final day to register for Happen's Tiny Northside Fourth of July Parade.

Participants receive a miniature parade float base made from a N.Y.P.D. Pizza hoagie box and transform it into a one-of-a-kind float. Whether you're creating as a family, representing a business, or simply showing off your creativity, we want to see your tiny masterpiece!

The Tiny Northside Fourth of July Parade is also a fundraiser for Happen, helping support our free arts and enrichment programs for young people and families. Registration is just $20 for individuals and families and $35 for businesses.

The parade takes place on Thursday, July 2, at 6:00 p.m. and features tiny floats traveling down a miniature version of Hamilton Avenue, complete with community voting and plenty of hometown fun.

Register at Happen during Open Studio hours today / Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. or Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pick up your hoagie box and help us celebrate Northside in a big way—on a tiny scale!

All floats must be submitted to Happen by 5:00 p.m. today to be included in the parade.

Some Happen traditions never get old.
Today is one of our favorite Happen Open Studio sessions of the year. Every Father's Day weekend, children create colorful paper neckties for their dads and grandfathers.
Over the years, we have learned that many dads have saved every Happen tie they have received, keeping them as cherished memories and keepsakes.
A few years ago, I was walking downtown through Washington Park on Father's Day when I noticed a man hurrying down the sidewalk. He was dressed in a suit, keys in hand, probably heading to get the car after brunch or church with his family. As he passed me, I noticed he was wearing a very bright and colorful paper tie.
He didn't recognize me, and I didn't say anything as he rushed by. But in that moment, I knew exactly where that tie had come from.
It is a Father's Day memory I will always cherish and a reminder that the small things we create together at Happen become lasting family traditions.

Lots Happening This Weekend at Happen!

Join us on Saturday, June 6, for our first-ever Adult Hatha Yoga in the Garden from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. with certified yoga instructor McKenzie.

Enjoy a peaceful hour of yoga surrounded by nature. Just bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Cost is only $5, payable at the garden gate.

Please note: Happen Art Studio will be CLOSED on Saturday, June 6, as we are proud to be a presenter at Art on the Rise at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The studio will reopen with its regular schedule on Tuesday, June 9.

Looking ahead to Sunday, June 7!

Stop by Happen's Toy Lab from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and create your own tiny float for Happen's Tiny Northside Fourth of July Parade.

Registration is $20 per individual or family and includes a NYPD Pizza Hoagie Box to get your creation started.

Take your float home to build or stay and create at the Toy Lab. We'll have plenty of materials available to help you design a one-of-a-kind tiny parade float.

Happen’s Make It Space is officially open and now fully equipped for screen printing, thanks to the generosity of Tom Duvall and Chris Glass, former owners of Wire & Twine. When they made the decision to close their business, it became a new beginning for Happen. Tom and Chris donated their screen-printing equipment, along with their time, talent, and expertise, helping transform our space into a fully functioning print studio.

Their support went far beyond equipment. Tom, along with his daughter Neko, helped paint the space, while Tom also built and installed worktables, storage cabinets, and custom fixtures throughout the studio. Chris designed the “Here to Make Friends” shirt, the perfect first print to come out of the space and the first design offered to the community. Chris was also instrumental in helping create Happen’s first online store as well as designing the posters and decorations inside the Make It Space. Together, Tom and Chris have shared their knowledge and guidance, helping Happen grow from one-color printing to a full six-color screen-printing process.

With professional equipment now in place, Happen’s Make It Space gives youth the chance to design, print, and produce their own work while learning real creative and entrepreneurial skills. The space will also offer public printing sessions and community workshops in the future, creating even more opportunities for hands-on learning and creativity.

To celebrate the launch, supporters can purchase the “Here to Make Friends” shirt through May 9. Every shirt sold helps support Happen and the future of Happen’s Make It Space.
