Looking for "Gluten-sensitive Friendly" or vegan foods for the holiday season that everyone will eat? I've got you covered!
All of the sauces I cook with have the GF certification listed or have no wheat in the ingredients and have no warning about being processed in a facility that processes wheat. I use glass cutting boards and bowls. I shred using stainless steel, not plastic.
Here's a list of a few favorites that are GF recipes by nature, when using toyo instead of soy sauce:
》Adobo
》Pancit bihon (rice sticks) and/or sotanghon (bean thread glass noodles)
》Fried rice
》Kalua pork
》Corned beef hash/tortas
》Tortang talong (eggplant)
》Tortang tabios (silverfish patties)
》Picadillo
》Ginisang sitaw with beef
》Garlic butter shrimp
》Fiesta fruit salad
》Puto (rice flour version, not the pancake mix one)
》Kalingking (Bicol merienda: sweet potato stick patties)
For my pancit recipe, I normally use rice and/or cornstarch bihon and bean thread vermicelli. None of those kinds of noodles contain wheat. Canton noodles are only added or used on request. My veggie pancit is always completely vegan, unless requested to be prepared with chicken broth.
My "Southern" fried fish nuggets and shrimp are battered and rolled in a mix of rice, corn, and potato flours and starches.
GF lumpia is rolled with rice netting wrappers instead of rice paper, so they're crispy crunchy instead of tacky chewy.
If gluten isn't a concern, but there are vegan guests, order Impossible Burger instead of ground beef or pork dishes. Everyone can enjoy this meat substitute - it can totally pass the taste and texture test!
