I said no, when they tell me to train someone to replace myself, so I don’t need to come to work. El Guayacan is family owned. My wife and I wake up early and show up. We love what we do.
You might disagree, but we found something both of us like, so it doesn’t feel like work but closer to a hobby that your support helps allow us to keep pursuing and raise a family in Chico.
Like today, my wife told me to rest, and I tell her to rest. But here we are in the kitchen prepping for a company, yesterday it was a clinic, and some time it’s a big catering event for 100+ people.
If I was at home and my wife and kid are working or out of the house, I might be too bored. Maybe I can find a food related hobby like teach a cooking class in the future.
So no, I very much enjoy what I do. I don’t want to hire, hire, hire, and not work. Every restaurant owner is different. I respect their decision.
