This one started with a feeling. 🍎🤎

I wanted to take everything I love about fall, apple picking, fresh apples, warm spices and being in the kitchen creating—and put it into a cake.

So I took a few ideas, went back to my own pound cake base, and created my version.

Fresh shredded apples baked into the cake. Apple pie filling. Buttermilk glaze. Buttery streusel on top.

And just like that… the Apple Pie Pound Cake was born. 🍎🍰

This is what I love about baking—taking an idea, getting in the kitchen, playing with it, and watching it become something I’m proud to put in a box with Cakes n Chicks on it.

Why I Bake. 🤍

This season of my life looks very different than I thought it would.

I’ve spent so much of my life building, teaching, creating, moving, leading, and carrying a lot at once. Right now, I’m in a season of simplifying. Of focusing on what’s in front of me. Of paying attention to what feels meaningful.

And right now, that’s Cakes n Chicks.

I’ve always loved baking, but lately I’ve been thinking more about why I love it.

Baking slows me down.
It gives my mind somewhere to go.
It gives my hands something to create.
It gives me something tangible to finish, share, and feel proud of.

There is something about taking a few simple ingredients and turning them into something beautiful that feels healing to me.

In a season where a lot has changed, baking has become one of the places where I feel grounded. It gives me space to think, pray, create, process, and sometimes just be still.

And yes, I’m here to grow Cakes n Chicks. I’m here to sell really good cake, build this business, and see what it can become.

But I also want to start sharing more of the why behind what I do.

So I’m starting a new series called Healing Through Creating.

It will be about baking, but also about presence, creativity, patience, starting over, letting go, and what happens when we give ourselves permission to make something with our hands.

Because sometimes creating doesn’t fix everything.

But sometimes it gives us exactly what we need to keep going.

This is why I bake.

And this is the beginning of Healing Through Creating. 🤍🍰
