Produced by Chicago-based, internationally renowned house music DJ and producer, Terry Hunter, and featuring vocalist Jay Adams, “We Are One” was Terry’s heartfelt response to the violence that too often takes down promising young people. Kids like his son’s schoolmate and friend, Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old high school student gunned down in a Chicago park in January 2013. His goal is to use

the song to raise funds for organizations working on the front lines, and to serve as a call to action for all those who want to help affect change in their communities. “We Are One” will be released on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and other outlets on September 17, 2013, and 100 percent of proceeds will be donated to local non-profit organizations working with youth and those affected by violence, including Kids Off the Block, Chicago’s Citizens for Change and the Hadiya Pendleton Foundation. A “We Are One” video, directed by filmmaker Sanicole, will feature Chicago youth, artists and families who have been directly affected by violence, and will debut at a launch event on Sunday, September 29 at Terry’s weekly residency at The Shrine Chicago. He also is planning additional events to spread the song’s message and link individuals with specific opportunities to give in their communities.
