45 years ago, Anthony Spatara opened our doors on East Huron with one idea: good food, done right, for the neighborhood.

Today, his daughter Licia and her brother Tony are the ones carrying it forward. Same recipes. Same care. Same reason we're still here.

Two generations. One family. One vision.

What started with Anthony Spatara's original vision is carried forward every single day by the family that still runs these counters. Same recipes, same care, same reason we opened the doors in the first place: to give Chicago a true taste of Italy.

This is what family-run actually looks like, four decades in.

If this is your vibe, you're in the right place. 🤎 Fresh-stacked sandwiches, real Italian ingredients, and a kitchen that's been doing it right since '81. Come taste what everyone's talking about.

Born in Italy. Made in Chicago. 🍕🇮🇹🍝

In 1981, on Columbus Day, a little Italian grocery store from the Northwest Side took a chance and moved into a brand new high-rise at 30 East Huron. People called it a pioneering venture. We called it home.

Over four decades later, that corner became our neighborhood, and our neighborhood became Chicago's. Founder Anthony Spatara's vision is still what guides every sandwich we build and every espresso we pull today.

45 years in, we're just getting started. This week, we're looking back at where it all began. Swipe through for a piece of our story.

45 years later, we're still family run, still serving the city that became our home. This is where Café L'Appetito started. 🇮🇹🏙️
