SAIC Belonging and Compassion Grants
The President’s Office, Office of Student Affairs, and the Wellness Center are sponsoring a grants initiative open to SAIC students, faculty, and staff with the goals of activating compassion among members of the SAIC community and enhancing the sense of belonging of all who are part of the SAIC community. We are interested in tapping the boundless innovation, ingenuity, and creativity of our community to create these positive impacts. Ten $3,000 grants will be awarded. The funding is made possible by the President’s Office.
Proposals should be no longer than two pages and should include the following information:
Name and contact information of the primary contact person
Description of the project including:
purpose and rationale;
how this initiative will activate compassion and/or enhance a sense of belonging among SAIC Community members;
How this project is collaborative in nature.
Detailed budget of how the award will be spent
Proposals could be classroom projects or collaborations outside of class, new efforts or expansion of work already begun, based on the work of an individual with participation from others or the genuine collaboration of a group, or events/exhibitions/performances to take place on campus. As long as the proposal positively activates compassion and enhances a sense of belonging, it will be eligible for consideration.
The deadline for proposals is Friday, October 19, 2018. Awards will be announced two weeks after the deadline. Proposals will be assessed for the breadth and depth of their impact on the SAIC community. Finalists will be chosen by a committee of students, faculty and staff.
Please send your proposals to [email protected]. If you have questions about the grants competition, feel free to call Joe Behen at 312.499.4271 or email him at [email protected].
