Back of the Yards Coffee is a woman and Latinx owned coffee company in the south side of Chicago with a mission as bold as its coffee. By sourcing the highest quality coffee directly from farmers, hiring locally, and implementing environmentally responsible practices, we are creating much needed revenue and social impact for the communities that we serve.

Paola was part of the Back of the Yards Coffee family during some of the most difficult and defining years of our journey. She worked alongside us through the hardest days of the pandemic, and through it all, we will always remember her for her smile, her strength, and the mark she left on the people around her.

Paola was Pilsen—beautiful, hardworking, resilient, and wonderfully human. Like all of us, she carried her own story and her own struggles.

We are deeply saddened by her passing. Our hearts are with Paola’s family, her child, her friends, her former coworkers, and everyone who loved her. We hope they feel surrounded by the same love and community that Paola gave to so many during her life.

If you are able to, please consider donating to the gofundme her family has started.
