The team behind Adalina Prime is preparing to open another restaurant, this one with views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

Arla is set to open on the top floor of 15 E. Oak St. this summer, blending Mediterranean and Japanese cuisines. It is taking over a space once occupied by Barneys New York Fred’s, a white-tablecloth restaurant with skyscraper views and sight lines to the lake.

Upon entry, guests will pass a wine cellar and be greeted with expansive views out of floor-to-ceiling windows. The 8,500-square-foot restaurant will seat 230 people inside, with an additional 60 seats spread across two terraces. One terrace looks down Oak Street to the lake, and the other has views of Rush Street.

The food at Arla will explore the seaside flavors of the Mediterranean with Japanese techniques. Think “lighter fares with intense flavors,” said Michelin-starred chef Soo Ahn, who is leading the kitchen. The menu will focus on vegetarian and fish dishes, and feature grains and pastas.
