To My Slide N Eat Family,
This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write.
Effective immediately, Slide N Eat will be closed until further notice.
This was not an easy decision. Over the last two years, we have been dealing with repeated break-ins, open drug activity, prostitution, shootings, and teen takeovers around the property. The setbacks have taken a real toll — emotionally, financially, and mentally.
I have brought ideas and solutions to upper management on how we could better protect our businesses and the property itself, but there has been no real help or willingness to protect us. At some point you have to ask yourself as a business owner, would you stay and keep rebuilding when you are not protected?
Slide N Eat was never just about food. We brought together neighbors, creatives, commuters, and visitors through delicious food and a celebration of Bronzeville’s unique music and history. We offered a wide range of dishes made with love, and it is truly heartbreaking to have to put that on hold.
Thank you to every single person who supported us, who slid through, who told a friend, who prayed for us. You are the reason we kept going as long as we did.
This is a pause, not the end of our story. Please follow here for updates on what’s next.
