ALMOST SOLD OUT: NIGHT WITH AN ARTIST | Paint and Sip Cantaritos with Raspy Rivera and 1800 Tequila

Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month runs September 15 through October 15 — dates chosen to mark the independence of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Mexico. We wanted to close it out with something more than a menu special. So we're doing this instead.
THE ARTIST
Raspy Rivera is a Puerto Rican painter based in Logan Square, and a dear friend, known for the faces that show up throughout her work — each one distinct, none of them polished on purpose. Featured at our own Diego and Trino Steakhouse, her process leans on Taíno symbolism and the influence of Miró and Picasso, but the point of it isn't technique. It's what she calls flipping the script on imperfection. She'll guide the room through painting your own cantarito cups and close the night with a few words on her own path as an artist, and what it's meant to build a career on her own terms as a Latina in Chicago.
THE EVENING
Thirty seats, indoors, communal seating — the kind of table that gets people talking to whoever's next to them, not just who they came with.
