💕 Hi everyone! I thought it was time to properly introduce myself and share the story behind The Itty Bitty Cupcake!
I'm Cheri, the owner and baker behind The Itty Bitty Cupcake.
Many people don't know that baking has actually been part of my life since I was a little girl. My dad was a baker and made beautiful wedding cakes, so I grew up surrounded by flour, frosting, and cake. Funny enough, I never imagined I'd one day follow in his footsteps.
It wasn't until 2018 that something sparked my interest in baking. I honestly can't tell you exactly what it was, but I started making mini cupcakes and bringing them to work just for fun. Before I knew it, people were asking if they could buy them!
At the time, I was living in South Florida, and my dream was to own a cupcake truck and travel to vending events throughout Fort Lauderdale and Miami. One evening while talking on the phone with my sister-in-law, she came up with the name The Itty Bitty Cupcake. The moment I heard it, I knew it was perfect. I fell in love with the name, had my logo designed, and started participating in local events.
Unfortunately, while preparing for one of those events, I injured my back. After being out of commission for nearly a month, I realized that running a mobile cupcake truck and baking hundreds of cupcakes for events just wasn't something my body could handle.
Sometimes life has a different plan for us.
At one of the vending events, I met a wonderful woman who later contacted me and asked if I would make a small wedding cake for her. I had never really made cakes before, but I agreed to give it a try. That one little wedding cake opened a door I never expected, and before long, custom cakes became a huge part of my business.
I was blessed to build an amazing customer base in Florida before my husband and I decided to move back home to Michigan. Since returning, I've been slowly rebuilding my business and getting to know a whole new community.
Over the past couple of years, my menu has continued to grow and evolve. While I still create custom cakes by request, I'm excited to be getting back to my roots with cupcakes! I've also added chocolate-covered treats, signature brownies, and I have even more sweet additions coming soon.
