🚨 Hey y’all, it’s Blake! 🚨
Over the last six months, I’ve watched several mom and pop restaurants close their doors. I just saw another announcement from a local restaurant in Powhatan that will be closing in a few short weeks. As a restaurant owner, that hits home.
Then you drive past chain restaurants and see packed parking lots. There’s nothing wrong with supporting those businesses, their employees have families to provide for, too. But I hope we can also make a little more room for the small, independent places that help make our communities special.
Whether it’s Allman’s BBQ, Kings BBQ, Riptides, The Reserve at the Highlands, The Salty Siren, Kristen’s Kitchen, or another local favorite, your support matters.
Behind every meal is more work than most people ever see. Hours of prepping, cooking, and getting everything ready before that plate reaches your table. There are families pouring their time, money, and hearts into these businesses, hoping you’ll walk through the door.
And y’all do show up. I have customers who drive multiple hours just to eat at Allman’s, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for that. Whether you come from down the street or across the state, you help keep this family tradition going.
IT TAKES ALL OF US TO SUCCEED.
This week, think about giving a local business a try. Switch up your usual coffee stop and visit Daily Grace Coffee right here in Chester. Plan dinner at a mom and pop restaurant. Bring a friend, share a post, or tell someone about a meal you loved.
One visit might seem small, but those visits add up. They help pay the bills, keep people employed, and give an owner a little more hope for tomorrow.
We’ve got a great community. Let’s keep showing up for each other. ❤️
I hope everyone has a great week, and I look forward to seeing y’all! We have some great specials this week—including Brunswick stew with honey glazed cornbread. Come hungry!
