In January 1978, Official UFO Magazine ran a story that Chester, Illinois has never quite lived down. On the night of August 2, 1977, the city sheriff reported a fleet of glowing, pulsing craft hovering over Main Street, knocking out power, setting fires, and leaving our entire town in a panic. The story made national print. Chester made history.

Now, nearly 50 years later, we are throwing the party this town deserves. Join us at St. Nicholas Landmark on July 31, 2027 for The Chester Incident: a 50th Anniversary Celebration. Live music, vendors, food and drinks, and a panel discussion on the night no one was supposed to remember. Stay tuned for details.

St. Nicholas Landmark is closed today, as we are every Monday. But we did not want the day to pass without stopping to say what needs to be said. To every service member who gave their life in service to this country, thank you. We are honored to be part of a community that knows the weight of this day. See you Thursday.

Chester is making history this summer and St. Nicholas Landmark is right in the middle of it. The new cable-stayed Chester Bridge AKA the Don Welge Memorial Bridge is set for its grand opening on July 11, with a 5K run, ribbon cutting, and our whole town is invited to celebrate!!

Come see the new bridge, stay for a Landmark Lager! We cannot think of a better way to mark the occasion than right here on the riverfront. See you July 11th!!
