Epicurean Garage

Epicurean Garage Honest Eats, Cold Beer. Farm to table comfort food to enjoy with friends. Both the food and the interior are regularly raved about in online reviews.
(602)

The Epicurean Garage is an exciting new Chester County go-to for great cuisine in a funky, comfortable setting. Chef Lee Krasely (America Bar and Grill, Epicurean) is at it again with this 150-seat, family-friendly eatery in the Eagle Point Village Shopping Center. In the “Garage”, Krasely “constructs and deconstructs” ingredients to serve amazing farm-to-table comfort food. The interior is indust

rial chic with a heavy nod to those who love all things mechanical and motorsports. For example, there are old-school metal toolboxes full of family-friendly activities to keep the kids busy. So, jump in your jalopy, hot rod, motoring machine, road locomotive, or just the family wagon and cruise on over to the Epicurean Garage for some Honest Eats and a Cold Beer! We have a full bar now, but to accommodate our loyal BYOB patrons we continue to allow BYOB.

Are you ready for amazing dining with an important social purpose?

Today, we begin an important journey where a dining club for local epicureans is launched with the mission and purpose to create a “better mousetrap” for special needs youth and adults attempting to access vocational opportunities in the hospitality industry.

If you “get it” and want to be a founding member right now, please click here to secure your spot now!

About the club’s purpose and mission:

Hospitality is a “go to” vocational path for the special needs population.

However, there has been little work done in this sector toward creating a thoughtful approach to curriculums and training for accessing these jobs and providing a truly meaningful professional path in hospitality for folks with special needs.

The Epicurean Club addresses this vision and mission with the development of training programs and projects for hospitality jobs.

Our signature project will be the launch of an all special needs staff run cafe and coffee shop, The Kindness Cafe, weekday mornings at the Epicurean Garage and in partnership with local schools, the Intermediate Unit, and support organizations.

Our membership combines a passion for exceptional food and dining experiences at the historic Inn with a socially responsible commitment to an important local cause and need in our communities.

The Epicurean Club is more than a dining experience; it's a community built around the love of food, historic venues, and above all, supporting this important mission with the 501c3 non-profit, Autism Village Foundation.

Epicurean Club Membership Benefits:

As a member of The Epicurean Club, you’ll enjoy these exclusive benefits:

- "First Friday" monthly dinners, prepared by a rotating roster of esteemed local chefs including those from the Epicurean Garage and Dragonfly Catering.
- “Second Sunday” brunches at the historic Flowing Springs Inn owned by Autism Village Foundation
- "Third Thursday's" bar nights with casual fare and camaraderie at the historic Inn’s lovely bar room.
- Special club nights featuring unique speakers and performances.
- Opportunities to book The Flowing Springs Inn, our historic property, for private and corporate events without room or usage fees.
- The chance to directly support vocational and other programs for individuals living with autism and their loved ones.

Membership to the Epicurean Club is limited and exclusive.
Your membership fee is 100% donated to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Autism Village, and is tax deductible. The membership’s annual donations all support the vital vocational programs and initiatives for individuals living with autism.

Jr Chef Greg has autism and is neurodivergent.
He loves culinary. Following culinary schooling, he worked at numerous restaurants. Sadly, no job lasted very long.

To skip to the silent auction and bidding, go here:

https://galabid.com/helpgreg

The pattern was always the same: start cooking, move to prep, move to dishwasher, excused from job.

Not because Greg wasn't a hard worker or capable but because restaurants move fast, are loud, kitchen managers, executive Chefs, and owners are impatient and already so strung out trying to make businesses work in the current climate that they just didn't have the time to slow down and figure out how to make it possible for Greg to be successful.

Then Greg found the Epicurean Club at The Historic Flowing Springs Inn. When he first arrived he was shy and solitary. That was almost two years ago. Today he has done his own six course Chef Dinner Menu for the Club, mentored other young neurodivergent folks in the kitchen, now wants to share his cooking with students at his old school, Hill Top Preparatory School, has cooked for The Ludwig's Corner Show Grounds VIP Dinner, worked on food trucks, and is a favorite of Epicurean Club Members for his brunch omelettes and Pub Night deviled eggs.

Greg rides his eBike 17 miles from north of Elverson to the Flowing Springs Inn to get to/from work. Greg is high functioning and he can drive a car but he can not afford a car.

Epicurean Club members want to help Greg to get a car to commute to work and so they've put together a silent auction of items mostly from local artisans. There are almost 100 items, mostly from local artisans, to choose from!

Anyone can bid online and pick up items before Christmas. Get those last minute gifts while helping Greg to get off his eBike in the cold, dark, and weather filled winter and into a warm car!

Auction items and bidding is open now and closes at noon on Sunday.

Item pickup after noon Sunday until 6 and Monday from 3 to 7 at The Flowing Springs Inn or by arrangement. We are happy to ship items for the cost of shipping as well.

Check out the auction here: https://galabid.com/helpgreg

In Memory of John Batgos

There are so many stories, pictures, and memories from the last five years.

Possibly the most amazing thing about our experience with Johnny was that he met folks who understood him as neurodivergent and made that cool. He said that he always knew he was a little different and that psyching himself up for shifts or dealing with people was exhausting. When he discovered that neurodivergence can be cool and started to see some of his memory and abilities as super-powers, then things got easier.

Johnny had a strongly held belief about what was ‘on the other side’, and he was quite comfortable with his mortality over the past year. He believes that there will be baseball teams there and all the players who’ve gone ahead. He believes he’ll be coaching one of those teams with some of those famous players and will finally realize a lifelong dream. His lifelong friend told him he looked forward to playing on Johnny’s team when he got there. Johnny didn’t miss a blink in responding: Well, you’ll have to try out...

John's full obituary:

John Batgos 1967-2025
John “Johnny” Batgos, 57, passed away peacefully at his Devon PA home on October 23rd. John was the son of the late Penelope (Millili) and James Batgos. He was a lifelong resident of the Wayne and Devon area.

A graduate of Conestoga High School, John also attended the University of West Virginia. Prior to a metastasized cancer diagnosis in December 2024, he spent his career in the service industry, beginning as a teenager at his family’s restaurant, Valley Forge Diner in King of Prussia. After the sale of the family business, John continued working as a server and bartender at various restaurants in Chester County; Black Powder Tavern, Epicurean Garage and Flowing Springs Inn.

John ‘s quick wit, and encyclopedic knowledge of sports, movies and music, made him a service industry natural. It wasn’t unusual for many customers to specifically request John to be their server. Both customers and friends loved to hear his laugh, which was both infectious and distinct. This past May, John was well enough to attend his 40th high school reunion. According to his classmates, he was the star of the show and had them laughing till it hurt.

John is survived by his brother Thomas, his wife Marianne, and their son James, and sister Joanna, her husband Jonathan(Chip) and their children, Jessie, Zachary and Drew, as well as many close friends.

John’s family welcomes friends at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 763 South Valley Forge Road, Wayne PA 19087(Radnor Township) Saturday, November 22nd from 10:00am to 11:00am with his Memorial Service to follow at 11:00am.

Get to know the Garage

We are a locally sourced, American cuisine restaurant in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. Currently BYOB but hoping to acquire a liquor license in the near future.

We believe food should be cooked fresh to order, sourced locally, and harvested ethically. Unlike many others, we never use frozen proteins or take shortcuts in preparation. We know we’ve got the right angle on food because we don’t cut corners!

The Garage is perfect for any occasion. Whether it’s a hot date and you’re dressed to kill, or family night when you’ve come to chill, you’ll notice our ambiance is suited for both.

Epicurus was an ancient Greek philosopher. Today, an Epicurean is someone devoted to the sensual enjoyment of food and drink. Basically, if you’re a foodie you’re an Epicurean, just like us!
