I am a tea drinker. After you drink through teas from different places in the world, you end up in China, after Longjin, Qimen, Wuyi, TGY, Dancong, you end up in Yunnan and stuck with Gushu Sheng. With hundreds of different tea mountains, different micro terroirs in each, different tree ages, different weather each year, different producers, different storages, the fascinating never ends now.

Other teas are like postcards, you could glance through hundreds of them and pick your favorite. Each Gushu Sheng Pu’erh tea however, is a book written by a different tea tree with its own unique DNA. You can’t judge a book by the cover, now you have to quiet down, read every page of the book, maybe more than once, try to understand the whole story. And the book is alive, next time you open a page you read before and remembered, the words changed by time.

Don’t take my words for it, drink one and feel it yourself. Each ancient tree is a journey unique.

300 years ago, Edmund Waller’s poem:
“Venus her Myrtle, Phrebus has his bays;
Tea both excels, which she vouchsafes to praise.
The best of Queens, and best of herbs, we owe
To that bold nation, which the way did show
To the fair region where the sun doth rise,
Whose rich productions we so justly prize.
The Muse’s friend, tea does our fancy aid,

I am amused that most of the Gushu teas we are sipping on now, is from tea trees that were living at his time and it still possesses the power to keep my soul serene every time.
