Never forget....the Origin of the Black River Bar Pizza

Long ago, the Black River Bar was struggling. Despite its reputation and strong drinks, the food was lackluster, and customers weren’t sticking around. Bubba Horne, the bar’s owner, was about to throw in the towel when a strange man named Paul wandered in.

Paul was a former circus contortionist turned cook who’d traveled across the country, learning to make delicious food with bold flavors. When he heard about Bubba’s troubles, he proposed an idea: pizza. Bubba, skeptical but desperate, agreed to let Paul give it a try.

Paul went to work, tossing dough and sauce with the flair of a circus performer, and when he pulled the first pizza out of the oven, it glowed with perfection —crispy, cheesy, and delicious. Bubba took one bite and knew instantly this was something truly special.

The pizza wasn’t just good it was magical. People who ate it claimed it made them feel young and connected to the Black River, some even said it gave them vivid dreams and visions or healed wounds and cured disease. Word spread, and soon travelers from far and wide came to the Black River Bar, not just for the whiskey, but for the legendary pizza of youth.

To this day, no one knows the exact secret behind Paul's recipe, but the Black River Bar Pizza became a famous staple of Cheboygan, Michigan —just as mysterious as the river itself. It’s said that you can't eat the pizza standing up for fear of collapsing in ecstasy. And as long as the Black River Bar stands, Paul's pizza will be a part of its unforgettable legacy.
But don't take my word for it, try it for yourself.
