Few things are better than wandering through a stunning, storied space — all while savoring delicious bites, sipping tasty cocktails, and enjoying the rhythm of live music!

From the welcome champagne, to the Zech Dallas Band’s lively performance, to the helicopter whisking guests to and from Lula Lake to enjoy the sunset views — every detail of the Happy Valley Farms "First Look Garden Party" was intentionally crafted. This timeless, historic estate was the perfect venue to host such a magical evening! ✨️

This morning, I had the pleasure of joining "The Reveal Event" — a culinary collaboration between Neutral Ground and SoulQue 423!

Both cuisines are Chattanooga favorites of mine, so seeing these two chefs come together for the second time promised to be a 🔥 experience!

I arrived early for a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation and care that went into bringing this event to life. The experience kicked off with a surprise menu item: Beef Suya, a classic Nigerian street food. The Suya was perfectly cooked -- tender, bursting with flavor, and juuust the right amount of char! 👌🏾

As blues jams played to set the tone, Chef Kenyatta and Chef Lee moved on to the main course: slow-smoked lamb chops accompanied by herb-roasted potato salad, creamy smoked gouda mac and cheese, and braised collard greens. Dessert was a warm, spiced peach crumble finished with chantilly cream -- the perfect ending!

Our second wydchatt meet-up is here! ♟️🍺

Come hang at Tanasi Brewing (3701 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, TN 37415) on Thursday, March 12, between 5:30–8pm for a low-key game night. Games provided, friends encouraged, laptops welcome – chill vibes all around. Drop by for a bit, or stay the whole time!

And yes, "Wei to Go" will be on site serving some 🔥 Chinese food!

We had a great time at the very first Wydchatt meet-up! Thank you to all who came out to support -- whether you popped in to say hi, enjoyed the music & vibes while finishing up your work day, or mingled and met new friends while challenging them to a crossword/ wordsearch/ puzzle competition.

A big shoutout to Hoptown Southside for hosting the very first Wydchatt meet-up in their space, and for being so accommodating, kind, and easy to work with! Another big shoutout to Smash Boys for providing 🔥 eats during the event!

"Eating at Mah Kin is just like eating at a friend's house in Thailand"!

A cozy, authentic Thai restaurant recently opened this past year on Brainerd Road. As a Brainerd resident myself, I could not wait to check it out!

On my first visit to Mah Kin, I stopped in for lunch, planning to get a bit of work done while I ate. I started with a Thai Iced Tea and the Tom Kha soup (coconut milk soup). For my meal, I ordered two of the monthly specials: Crispy Chicken and Drunken Lo mein. I really enjoyed my meal and had plenty of food left to take home for dinner!

Following my first visit, I browsed Mah Kin's menu a bit more online and knew exactly what I wanted to try out going into my next visit: Thai Milk Tea, Chor Thong (traditional Thai dumpling) and Naem Khao Tod (crispy rice salad). Everything I ordered was absolutely delicious! As someone who LOVES the way fresh onion, cilantro, and lime blend together, Mah Kin's Naem Khao Tod is a dish I have been craving since my last visit (as I am typing this, I honestly think I may pick up an order for dinner tonight).

Mah Kin also offers tasty dessert options, with vegetarian, plant-based, and gluten-free dishes available throughout their menu!

"Mah Kin" is not only a Thai phrase meaning "Come eat" or "Let's eat", it is also an invitation! Whether you've been a dozen times, or are hearing about Mah Kin for the first time, be sure to visit soon to share a flavorful meal in a warm, welcoming space!

"Convenient Cocktail Co. brings the afterparty!" 🕺🏿🎉

Toward the end of the Chattanooga Chamber's recent Holiday Open House event (SO much fun!), I had the pleasure of officially meeting Devin, one of the founders of Convenient Cocktail Co.

Convenient Cocktail Co. is a small local business that provides quality, dehydrated, ready-to-use garnishes for your cocktails (or mocktails). As someone who often enjoys snacking on the fruit garnish when finishing off a cocktail, I can fully vouch for how fresh and tasty theirs are (also free of artificial flavors, colors, & preservatives)!

While the promise of a yummy, aesthetic cocktail was the initial draw to visit Convenient Cocktail's table at the event (I got the Brown Butter Old Fashioned topped with a Convenient Cocktail apple garnish -- delicious! 😋), what really nudged me to stop by was observing Devin's kindness and hospitality toward every person who walked up. Even as the event began to wind down and vendors were at the point of packing up stations, Devin was still present, welcoming, and generous with his time.

Because of this generosity, I was able to hear a bit of Convenient Cocktail Co.'s "start-up story" and what excites Devin most about this business! During this time, I also realized that I had actually purchased (and really enjoyed) a bag of Convenient Cocktail lime garnishes at a local market the year prior, not realizing the connection at the time! This time around, I left with another (larger) bag of lime garnishes, as well as a bag of scarlet pineapple garnishes. SO excited to use these at home this holiday season! ✨️🎄

Next time you see Convenient Cocktail Co. out and about during your market visit, be sure to stop by and browse through their garnish offerings. You'll find options from lemon, lime, and orange to apple, pineapple, and grapefruit! Convenient Cocktail Co. also provides online ordering options to help you make "Beautiful cocktails, easier"! 🍹

GUESS WHAT?! Not only is the first “wydchatt” meet-up happening in downtown Chattanooga this Wednesday, we’ll also have the very first set of wydchatt apparel available at the meet-up! Stop by the apparel table at the event to purchase a branded t-shirt or sweatshirt to rock around town, if you’d like! We CAN’T WAIT to see & meet you! 🙂✨️🎉

Join Haile Nottage for a give-back HIIT dance fitness class to the sounds of Hip-Hop, Pop, Latin, & Afro-Beats.

This 1-hour workout is for everyone – all levels welcome! Just come ready to move your body, sweat a little, and laugh a lot!

The workout will run from 9 to 10 a.m. Hang around after to enjoy a hot drink, mingle, and learn more about The Chattery!

40% of your entry fee will go directly back to The Chattery to support building their Creative Learning Center.

$15 Tickets are available at the door. Payment accepted is Cash, Venmo, or CashApp.

Last week, I had the treat of visiting the new "Shine Nail Spa", located downtown on Broad Street (right next to the new Food City).

Walking in, I was struck by the perfectly curated atmosphere in the salon. Shine Nail Spa is bright, spacious, & beautiful -- with intentional pops of colors throughout the space. Stepping into the space, one immediately feels a bit more relaxed.

I received a manicure & the "Rise & Shine" pedicure, which I would highly recommend! During my pedicure, I sipped on a glass of red wine while enjoying the comfy, surprisingly spot-on massage chair, along with the relaxing, eclectic playlist the owner - Kayla - had thoughtfully crafted herself!

My technician for the pedicure, Ken, was so accomodating & attentive to detail. This pedicure was easily one of the best I've had (truly), and the addition of orange slices to the Rise & Shine pedicure was quite refreshing!

Following my pedicure, I headed over to Kayla to finish with a gel manicure. She was just as attentive & fun time to talk to. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the events that led her to open up her own nail salon. Caring for, connecting with, & making her customers happy is clearly something Kayla is passionate about!

Having not had a manicure or pedicure in quite a while, I left Shine feeling very pampered (& a little fancy)! Shine also produces quality work -- a week later, I am still receiving compliments on my nails (& have been very happy to be able to share about Shine when people comment)!

Stop by Shine for a manicure, pedicure, or both! This salon lives up to their name. ✨️💅🏾

I was sad to hear that one of my go-to happy hour/ dinner spots will be closing. Many a night during the week, one could find me running over to Ernest Chinese to satisfy my craving for their Dan Dan Noodles, Fried Rice, or General Ern's Chicken, paired with one of their Tiki drinks (or the Tiki Old Fashioned 🔥😋). Each visit, their staff was always the most helpful in talking through menu recommendations & so fun to interact with!

This week will be the last opportunity to visit Ernest, with July 13th being their final day open. Show them some love as they finish out strong, & remember to show our small local businesses love in general when you can - we've got some great ones here in Chatt! ✨️🤍

You'll be missed, Ernest - thanks for bringing the good food & good vibes!
