Dearest Dürtbags,

Yes, it’s that time of year again, & I know what you’re thinking: when is that dürty girl’s, no, excuse me, dürty LADY’S birthday party gonna be?

We’ve had high times these past few years. A carnival. Many a house band. Several liters of Henry McKenna.

& YOU showed up to all of them. You shook a leg. You broke a few bottles. You made so many Italian subs. You kissed with tongue. You glittered your whole body. You accidentally ate mushrooms. All in celebration of my birthday.

& I love you for that. TRULY. DEEPLY.

But look y’all, I’m 48, & MAMA’S TIRED. My dishwasher’s flooding. My Jäger machine’s jammed. The Fernet keeps disappearing. My bumper sticker is now a reproduction of my bumper sticker.

This year, I just wanna chill. I got two different boxed wines, all the pinball I want, & my best friends pretty much every day. I’m not saying I never want a birthday party again (I can see 50 from here & hot damn, it’s gonna be a blowout), but this year, we’re skipping the party.

Thank you for sticking with me through the paint fumes and chainsaws and busted taps and fear of lettuce. We will party again. I love you all. Happy birthday to me.
