There aren’t too many places to get a bite to eat in Charlotte that have existed for more than we have. Green's Lunch specializes in hot dogs, and have been serving Uptown Charlotte for 90 years — and we can assure you that not much has changed on the menu since we first opened our doors in 1926. And although the prices have changed a bit due to inflation — hot dogs used to cost a nickel — We have

stayed one of the cheapest eats in all of Charlotte, especially for the quality. Of course, you’ll want to order a side of crispy crinkle French Fries and you can get them covered in chili or cheese. The only items that costs more than $4 on the menu are the Chef or Chicken Breast salad — which are both $6.45. A few desserts are also served including Baklava for $1.95 and ice cream for $1.95. Many regulars order hot dogs “All the Way,” which includes ketchup, mustard, coleslaw, onions and chili. Green’s Lunch also serves breakfast until 10:30 am, and is open from 7:30 am to3:00 pm during the week. The diner is open on Saturday from 9:30 am to 2 pm, and is closed on Sundays. Don't forget we are open for all Panther Home Games.

This is Joanna Sikiotis, owner of Charlotte's oldest restaurant: Green's Lunch Inc in Uptown Charlotte. Famous since 1926. Hot dogs. BLT's on simple wheat bread. "Special chili." Old school. Counters. Styrofoam plates. Green's is a block from the federal courthouse, and a place you'll see lawyers in business suits next to construction workers in neon vests, all ordering together.

I happened to go in today for lunch. Met Joanna and her son Nick, as they worked the grill. They said reports of the building being for sale has made people question whether Green's is open.

They both emphasized repeatedly, "WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS."

"We are not closed," Joanna said. "WE ARE NOT CLOSED."

She said February was emptier than normal, and she and Nick believe that's because people thought they were shutting down. She has calls everyday asking when their last day is, and if they're open at all.

"I'll say again, we are open," she said. "I'd love if you could share that. I saw the reports, but we as a restaurant are open. I have grown up here. My parents owned this place and gave it to me and my sister. I've been here 46 years. We don't have a closing day and are open, open, open for business."

There you go, Joanna. Relayed and I can bet, will be shared.

Green's is a gem located smack in the middle of our growing metropolitan, open 7:30am-2pm on weekdays. Few more photos below in comments.
