It all started in early 1976. Our parent’s lease was about to end at their restaurant “Pete’s Grill” located on the corner of South Blvd and New Bern (now the heart of South End). They rented that building from Pepsi for approximately 10 years. The search began for a new place. Dad found just that at 4600 Wilkinson Boulevard . Built in the 1930’s it once housed an ESSO gas station. After a bit of remodeling and a lot of hard work CAROLINA FAMILY RESTAURANT began, opening in June of 1976. What an incredible ride it’s been thus far! We’ve seen so many changes throughout the years surviving many difficult times ( A Kitchen fire, Hurricane Hugo, Covid, just to name a few). We’ve also witnessed some incredible moments through the years. Friends that became family, our Carolina family. The rest as they say is history. We’d like to give a huge THANK YOU to all of our loyal customers for their continued support. We are beyond grateful and proud! Half a century of serving Charlotte! A milestone worth celebrating! Happy 50th Anniversary to us!!!
