When it comes to telling the stories of heritage and how immigrant mothers came to the States to create opportunities for their families, La Caseta is a beacon of hope and determination. Miriam Espaillat was born in El Salvador and grew up gathering around a Comal on the weekends to enjoy Pupusas and music with the community. Her mom would later migrate to the United States to open up a Pupusaria in New York in order to bring her family to join her there in the city. In El Salvador, a La Caseta would be a small shop that is attached to your house where Pupusas are made from scratch and sold to the community. When the brand was starting to take shape we wanted to share in these stories and offer up the same quality food that you can experience in these little stands — where mothers were passing down heritage to their daughters and culture was preserved.
