Once upon a time, in the land o’ lattes, I, the humble Brown Sugar Cinnamon latte, was forced to watch in awe as the Pumpkin Spice latte rose to power every Fall.

Me: “Hey Pump (that’s what I call him, ‘Pump’), why do you get all the love?”

Hey there, coffee lover and master of all things customer friendly and amazing! Welcome to one of the coolest new coffee/cafe/event spots in downtown Charleston, SC! We are on the hunt for new team members and accepting applications right now!

Not a Barista? No clue what a POS could possibly be? Know not this “food” thing we speak of? No problem! We’ll act as your Yoda as you quickly ascend to the level of java Jedi. Fun and rewarding, it will be.

Note: We are a dog-friendly shop and while it doesn’t happen every day, we do host the occasional pampered pooch.

Location:
SHINE Coffee Café (where the magic happens), next door to the Music Farm, across the street from the Visitors’ Center in the heart of the fabulous downtown Charleston, SC.

Pay:
— $18.00-24.00 per hour (Cha-ching!)
— (+) Tip-Share (paid in cash) ON TOP of Hourly Pay (making hourly rate up to 35.00 per hour!)

Hours:
Open Daily
Primary Shift – 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Part-Time Evening Shift – 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM

What You'll Do:

CUSTOMER SERVICE/CASHIER + CONVERSATIONALIST
– We’ve worked hard to create a fun and relaxing environment where we’re as much concierge as cashier to our customers. If you have a positive, upbeat personality and have no problem chatting with just about anyone, you’ll have no problems here!

– Work your POS magic to ring up orders faster than a squirrel on caffeine.

– Handle cash with ninja-like precision (no cape required, but if you have one, we're totally cool with that – we call it an apron at the shop).

– Help customers choose their java journey or dining destination from our dazzling menu!

– Keep the space spiffy, so our cafe looks Instagram-ready at all times.

– Tag team with your fellow coffee crusaders to conquer even the busiest of mornings and nuttiest lunch rush!

– Run orders to customers in the dining area or take away counter (we attempted actually running, didn’t work out so well).

— Build relationships! It’s all about the chatting and personal touches at SHINE! Going the extra step to make the experience special is our common practice.

BARISTA
— Prepare amazing coffee concoctions with flair and style!

— Standard cleanup and prep-work to keep the well-oiled machine that is SHINE running smoothly!

— While experience in any of these areas is obviously preferred, you’ll be trained from start to finish regardless of your present know-how!

SANDWICH/SALAD PREPPER
— SHINE is a high-end sandwich and salad café. While the methodology behind the preparation is exacting, the process itself is simple to learn and fun to execute!

— You don’t have to be a trained chef to take this on! Once you go through SHINE’s brief training, you’ll be a wiz at the wok (we don’t actually use a wok)!

What You'll Need:

— A sprinkle of customer service experience (or a pinch of enthusiasm to learn);

— A heart that beats (quickly) for coffee (it's totally okay if it has a little coffee stain on it);

— Chat-mastery and the ability to turn any convo into a good one;

— Juggling skills (not actual juggling, but hey, it could come in handy!);

— Sherlock Holmes-level attention to detail;

— An endless supply of positive vibes.

— Ability to listen, follow instructions exactly, and produce consistent, beautiful products for customers! It’s an enjoyable position that puts you in front of some really great customers, and hey, we really take care of our team so you’ll get paid well to enjoy yourself! What could be better?!
