Real Talk? This is taking longer than I planned.

But I’ve learned the hard way that my timing and God’s timing are two different things. And His has never once failed me.

So we wait. We prep. We keep showing up. And we trust that when it’s time, it’ll be right on time.

A dream can start in one heart. But building it? That takes two.

Jarrell carried the dream first — his own restaurant, his daddy’s name on the sign. Then I looked at that vision and said I’m all in. Not just as a wife. As a partner, a builder, ready to turn a dream into something real enough to last.

He leads the kitchen — that’s his gift, Jarrell brings the flavor to life. Behind the scenes, we run the money and the operations side by side, while I take the branding, the marketing, the planning, and about a hundred little things nobody sees but everybody feels when it all comes together.

We’re building Doc Martin Wings & Grill on faith. On love. On sacrifice, long nights, and a whole lot of preparation — with our family at the center of every decision.

And listen — this was never just about selling food. It’s about honoring family. Keeping a promise. Showing our babies what’s possible when two people refuse to quit. It’s about building something that outlives us both.

He waited over ten years to put his daddy's name on a sign. In 2026, he finally did it.

Meet Jarrell — owner, cook, and the whole reason Doc Martin Wings & Grill exists.

His mama, Patricia, put him on in the kitchen. Taught him how to cook, how to feed folks right. His daddy, James "Doc" Martin Jr., taught him something different — how to believe. Doc looked at his son and told him to chase that dream of owning his own spot. Jarrell never let it go.

Then in 2013, he lost his father.

And right there in the grief, he made himself a promise: whenever the doors finally opened, they'd open under one name. Doc Martin.

It wasn't quick. Life threw delays. Whole seasons of waiting. Plenty of moments where it would've been easier to let the dream die quiet. He held on anyway.

Now the wait is over.

Jarrell's behind the grill serving up bold wings and grilled favorites the way his family taught him — with love cooked into every plate. And what's coming out that kitchen is bigger than food. It's a name that lives on. A legacy his kids, and their kids, get to carry.

Before Doc Martin Wings & Grill became a business, it was a promise Jarrell made to himself.

James Martin Jr. was Jarrell’s father. He was the first African American student in the pioneer class at Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee, the very first community college in the state. Then he enlisted, serving our country for four years as a corpsman in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. In boot camp, he earned the American Spirit Honor Medal. And somewhere in those years of service, the name that stayed with him for life was born: “Doc Martin.”

When his father passed in 2013, Jarrell made a decision. One day he would build something of his own, and it would carry his father’s name.

That dream belonged to Jarrell. His mother, Patricia, taught him how to cook. His father always told him to believe in himself and chase it. Jarrell held onto both.

Years later, the time has finally come.

Doc Martin Wings & Grill honors the father who believed in him, the mother who taught him, and the dream he refused to give up on.

This is more than the name of a business.

It is a promise kept.
It is a family honored.
It is a dream becoming reality.
