The report of Antica's death is exaggerated. My building at 10 E. Chester is in fact listed for sale. But Antica is not going anywhere. Here's the situation: Antica is not a mom and pop operation. It's only a pop operation. Lately my work is divided between the pizzeria and building management. It's too much for one person and I'm not enjoying either job. I need to get back to my ovens and my customers. I hardly know anyone sitting at the tables in Antica any more and it disturbs me. I learned the Craft of Neapolitan Pizza in Tony Gemegnani's kitchens in North Beach in San Francisco and sadly, he no longer teaches. I am one of his last students operating a pizzeria. I feel that I have a responsibility to continue Tony's legacy. I want to be at Antica full time and dropping building management is the way to go right now. I have a new gelato case coming this week. I am expanding hours, opening on Sundays. I am applying for the storefront improvement grant through the City. I am working on expanding the menu with second oven offerings. good things are still in the works, stay tuned, and I hope to see you and chat with you soon at Antica.
