Fifty years ago, I took my first steps into the restaurant world—not knowing it would become my life’s work and greatest adventure.

These five decades have been filled with early mornings, long nights, laughter, challenges, and countless connections with incredible people. I’ve learned that great food is only part of what makes this business special—it’s the friendships, the stories shared, and the community built around a table.

I’ve been blessed to do what I love for fifty years, and even more blessed by the people who’ve supported me along the way—family, staff, and loyal customers who’ve become lifelong friends.

As I look back, my heart is full of gratitude. Thank you for being part of my journey and for giving my life in this business so much meaning. Here’s to the memories we’ve made—and to the joy of continuing to serve, learn, and grow.

In 1976, our Martinsburg first pizza place was a beacon of innovation, with Shakey's Pizza and Pizza Hut as our competitors. We took pride in being the only ones crafting hand-tossed pizzas, whereas others relied on machines. When I created pizzas like the one pictured, my brothers would yell at me for making them too perfect like a machine. 😂
