One thing that small business owners probably all know is that it isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s for the brave, the patient and the persistent. It’s for the over-comer. That was said by someone unknown, however it is universally understood by those who claim their stake in the world of entrepreneurship.
As many know by now we announced earlier in the month that we would be closing our business for personal and family reasons at the end of this month. Later, we announced that we had a local family interested in continuing on with and taking over our business, in a similar fashion as we had started, with most of the staff staying on--providing a locally owned neighborhood cafe that provided family wages. Our mutual excitement was to continue on with what we had started. Providing employment and servicing a very deserving and loyal community.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must announce that we were unable to make a completed transaction work. There were just too many variables and being a very difficult time for our family already we just could not find a way to navigate all the hurdles. And I am very sorry for that.
We are closing the doors at our location at 1001 S. Gold St. for good. Our last day is Friday July 31st at 7pm. Please come see us before then! We want to see you, and we want to say good-bye. Unfortunately it is also my anniversary with my husband and we will be out of town for part of next week. Come through on Monday if you want to see me (Carisa)! :)
One last thing. Our family sincerely wants to ensure that our efforts to build a business and support a community have a lasting effect. We know that many of you will not have enough time to use all your loyalty points built up on your cards. And even those who have no points to lose, we want to offer all customers a way to partner with us to do something good for the entire community. Come in anytime next week, starting Sunday (tomorrow), and hand in your loyalty card. Two things will happen. First, your drink is free. Second, Picasso Brothers will donate $1 to the Veterans Memorial Pearl Street Pool. There is not a better way to unite families and provide the support that our community desperately needs. Close our playgrounds and fail to open our community pools, yet we wonder why our children have nothing to do. Investment in our community improves property values, which increases our overall tax revenue. It improves our entire community from the ground up.
With that said, the Crocker family will also match the total donation! That's right, for every loyalty card turned in, and there are thousands of them, the Crocker family will match the donation made by our business Picasso Brothers. We honestly do not know how else to thank the community in a more appropriate way!
We love you. All of us. Our staff, my husband and our family. We love you and thank you for all that you have done to support us.
With Love,
Carisa
