A quick update about our menu pricing:
If you notice that our menu prices look a little different, here's why.
For years, we've included sales tax directly in our menu prices. We liked the simplicity of paying the price you saw, and many of you appreciated it too.
Recently, our town approved a new 1% Food & Beverage Tax that will be taking effect soon. The challenge is that our point-of-sale system can't continue to include state sales tax in our prices while charging the new local tax separately. Our only alternative would have been to raise every menu price now to account for a tax that isn't even being collected yet.
We didn't think that was fair.
Instead, we've made the decision to switch to traditional pre-tax pricing. While we know this means you'll see tax added at checkout, it also means we aren't increasing prices before we have to. We also hope it gives everyone a more accurate apples-to-apples comparison with other restaurants, since our tax-inclusive pricing often made us appear more expensive than we actually were.
We know budgets are tight for everyone right now, and we don't make pricing decisions lightly. Every change we make is with the goal of serving great food and beer while being as fair and transparent as possible.
