for years, we’ve left our outdoor tables and chairs outside without a second thought. through rain, wind, snow, busy weekends, and quiet mornings, they’ve always been there waiting for customers to enjoy a coffee, a crepe, and a little sunshine.
unfortunately, last night, someone decided it would be fun to stomp on them and damage them.
could we have brought everything inside every night? maybe. but honestly, it never crossed our minds that we’d have to worry about someone intentionally destroying something that wasn’t theirs.
it’s not even about the tables and chairs themselves. those can be repaired or replaced. it’s the fact that someone looked at something that belonged to a small local business and chose to damage it for no reason.
there’s a lesson in moments like this: just because something is accessible doesn’t mean it’s yours to take, break, or disrespect. communities thrive when we look out for each other and take care of the spaces we all share.
we know most people are kind, respectful, and supportive, and we’re grateful for that every day. moments like this make it a little harder to believe that common courtesy is still common.
it’s an unfortunate reminder that not everyone treats others’ property with respect, but it’s also a reminder of how grateful we are for the countless people who do. we’ll get everything fixed up and ready for many more mornings, crepes, and conversations to come. ❤️
