After serving in the U.S Air Force for over 30 years, Lieutenant General Mike “Coach” Basla wanted to fulfill his “other” dream of becoming a farmer. Together, with his daughter Sara and her husband Pat they bought the Historic “Maples property” in beautiful Cazenovia, NY. While exploring options fo

r farming at The Maples, Coach and Pat realized a great opportunity was right in front of them on the Cazenovia Beverage Trail. Combining Pat’s love of craft beverage and Coach’s love of gin, throw in Coach’s son Adam with his sense of adventure and enthusiasm; Madison County Distillery is born.
