We know everyone is eager to hear an opening date for Heavy’s BBQ Rio Medina, and we’re just as ready to welcome y’all!

We have a projected date within the next couple of weeks, but this rain has delayed some of the work we needed to finish. By Monday, we should have a better idea of whether we can still open on our planned date.

We promise we’ll share the official opening date as soon as it’s confirmed! We want to feel confident that we’ll be ready before announcing a date and getting everyone’s hopes up.

We’re looking for dependable, hardworking, friendly people who are willing to jump in wherever needed. Responsibilities may include taking orders, preparing and packaging food, restocking, cleaning, and helping keep things running smoothly.

A LOT has changed around here over the last few days. The outside is taking shape, signs are going up, and Heavy’s BBQ Rio Medina is starting to look more and more like we pictured it.

We still have some work to do, but we’re getting closer! 💙

right here in Rio Medina!

🕐 What will your hours be?
We’re still working out those details and don’t have our final hours just yet. We’ll share them as soon as we do!

🔥 When are y’all opening?
We’re shooting for the beginning to middle of October, but we don’t have a definite date just yet. As soon as we know, y’all will know!

🍽️ Do y’all have a menu?
Yes! We’ll be serving the same menu as our Hondo location. We’re just waiting to get our Rio Medina logo and phone number added before we post it.

Did y’all know how Heavy’s got its name?

“Heavy” has been Derek’s dad’s nickname since he was a kid and eventually, that nickname became the name behind Heavy’s BBQ. 🔥

Derek’s parents, Heavy (Darryn) and Kim, own and run the Hondo location, and we’re so grateful for all of their support as Derek and I get ready to carry the Heavy’s name into Rio Medina. 💙
