Unless you've been living in a fenced-off part of a shared space, you've probably heard that the Marketplace and others have been sued and prevented from using the Paseo as intended.

The grounds for litigation are frivolous, but the current temporary restraining order is highly damaging.

Late last week, we urged folks to share their support of the Paseo by letting the Joint Commission know how many of you want the Paseo returned for outdoor dining.

In under a week, we've already gathered about 2,500 signatures! That's an amazing amount, and thank you! But we're hoping to at least double that. If you haven't yet, please sign and share with your friends and family.

Farmstand tomorrow! 9-1, at the 2.5 mile marker on Palomares Road. Here is a list of what we will have:

We will have LOTS of heirloom beefsteak tomatoes, and a very small amount of melons. Gravenstein apples, cucumbers, lettuce, carrots, beets, cherry tomatoes, radish, summer squash, basil, shish*to peppers, flowers, eggs, purple Carminat beans, rhubarb, tomatillos, and lots of jam. We are also going to bring some of the 4-H pork chops with us. We will have Italian, Chorizo, Ground Pork. All are $8 a lb. Chops are in packages of 2.
For jam, we will have sour cherry, blackberry, strawberry, blueberry, wild plum, plum/raspberry, blackberry/plum, raspberry, sour-cherry/habanero, and blackberry/currant. We don't have honey yet, but expect to harvest around Labor Day.
There is no cell reception out here, so we are the old-fashioned, cash-only kind of operation. Thanks so much!

Dear Cannery Customers,

I am very sorry to announce that we will not be reopening The Cannery Kitchen & Tap. While it was a great community gathering space, the harsh winter weather, a cool start to the summer and rising costs of goods and labor have forced our shut down.
It's been quite a ride since this project was conceived and I have loved seeing old friends, making new friends and bringing people together over food and drink and music. Once there is definite news about the space, it will be shared with all of you. The new team of managing members have been extremely supportive throughout the last year and are instrumental in bringing a tenant who will continue to create a fun, safe community town center vibe in this space. Until then, I urge you to support the businesses in The Marketplace and shop small business always. Thank you for your support over the years.

While I cannot say what the future will bring to the The Cannery Kitchen & Tap space, I'm sure it will be a good place to hang out and I encourage you to please support the businesses in The Marketplace. It's been quite a ride since I signed on to this project and I have loved seeing old friends, making new friends and bringing people together over food and drink and music. It is breaking my heart to have to close and I appreciate your nice comments at Castro Valley News. Once there is definite news about the space, it will be shared with all of you. Thanks for your support for the last (almost) 3 years.

- CASTRO VALLEY TOY STORE OPENS TODAY -

Erin, Tim, and Emerson Fritts, owners of The Prize Booth, have lived in Castro Valley since 2014. Erin had a successful career as a florist, a party planner and stylist, and now has decided to focus locally and bring a toy store back to Castro Valley. Erin used to visit the Village Toy Shop as a child and, like many others in town, has missed having a fun place in town to shop for kids. Tim is a voice over artist and actor and is also very excited to be a part of this new venture. Emerson will be a 4th grader at Chabot Elementary this fall and, as she puts it, “wants everything in the store."

The Prize Booth, located at 4270 Seven Hills Road is very excited to open its doors today, July 13th, at 10:00am. Feel free to stop by and check it out and maybe even buy yourself something fun.
