I think what really made me fall in love with cake decorating was the fact that I could “paint” something and have it be consumed.

I have always loved painting, especially with acrylics, but I have a whole bin full of art that never gets looked at or touched. I loved the process, but it kinda felt like a waste once it was over.

So anytime I get the opportunity to use those old skills to freehand a design in buttercream, I am beyond excited!

It’s not very often that I’m given creative freedom for a wedding cake, and I was SO excited when I heard the theme of this one!

A bride reached out to order a small cake-cutting cake for her celestial, jewel-toned themed wedding this past weekend. She told me I had total creative freedom and trusted my vision. What an honor! 🥹

I sponged a dark, galaxy background with pink nebulas and added gold pearls in her and her husband’s zodiac constellations. Then I topped it all off with edible gold shimmer and fresh flowers.

By far the most fun I’ve had creating a cake! Congratulations to the newlyweds. 🥂

Labor Day is a day to celebrate hard work and the people behind it. As a business owner, I've never worked harder, but the work has never been more fulfilling.

Last night, I finished up a marathon baking weekend consisting of 13+ hour days, 15 dozen cupcakes, 2 wedding cakes, and several custom cakes. Baking and creating is what fuels me and I am so grateful I get to do what I love every day. No matter how exhausting it may be sometimes, it is always worth it to be a part of your celebrations.

Today, I am resting and soaking it all in. I hope you take a moment to celebrate all your hard work, too. Happy Labor Day.
