I’ve been thinking a lot lately about where Pops started and where we are today.
Before Pops Eats On The Streets, there was a little candy store called Pop's Sweet's An Treat's in Mt. Clemens.
We worked hard to build that store, and then COVID-19 came along and changed everything. We eventually lost the store and watched something we had worked so hard for disappear.
We could have walked away.
But that’s not who we are.
We had a little sweet truck sitting there, so about six years ago we took what we had left, converted that little truck into a food truck, and started over.
No guarantees. No big plan. Just determination and a refusal to quit.
That little sweet truck became Pops Eats On The Streets.
Over the years we've had plenty of ups and downs. We've worked ridiculous hours, missed time with family, dealt with equipment breaking, struggled through slow days, made mistakes and wondered more than once if all the sacrifices were worth it.
But we kept going.
Today, Pops isn't just a food truck anymore.
We have Pops Eats On The Streets traveling to events and serving communities throughout the state. We offer traditional catering for everything from family gatherings to large events. And we now have Pops Place on Selfridge Air Base, where we have the privilege of serving the men and women of our military on a daily basis.
Sometimes I stop and think about that.
We went from losing our little candy store during COVID to rebuilding everything from a little sweet truck, and today we're able to walk onto Selfridge and serve the people who serve our country.
I'm damn proud of that.
Not because we're some huge successful company.
We're not.
We're just a family business that got knocked down and decided we weren't staying there.
We are not quitters.
Pops carries the name of the man who raised me, and as long as his name is on what we do, I'm going to keep fighting for it.
So with the holidays right around the corner, I'm asking you to think about Pops for your next event or special occasion.
