I’m officially on Cloud Nine today! What an incredibly special visit at SugarKoi from Rod Brind’Amour—and yes, he brought the Stanley Cup with him! 🏆❤️

Rod is not only a legendary hockey player and champion, but also an incredible leader who has given so much to the Carolina Hurricanes and our community. From lifting the Cup as captain in 2006 to winning it again as head coach in 2026, his dedication, work ethic, and love for the game are truly inspiring.

And a huge thank you to Amy and the Brind’Amour family for being so warm and wonderful. It was such a joy to welcome you all to SugarKoi. ❤️ Family, humility, and community are what make moments like this so special.

Our newest creation starts with bold, full-bodied Assam black tea, blended into a rich and creamy ice cream. We swirl in ribbons of brown sugar syrup, fold in soft, chewy mochi dough, and finish every scoop with a luscious drizzle of brown sugar sauce for the perfect caramel-like finish.
The inspiration comes from one of Asia’s most beloved drinks—bubble tea, or boba tea. Born in Taiwan during the 1980s, bubble tea became a global sensation by combining freshly brewed tea with chewy tapioca pearls, creating a drink that is just as much about texture as it is about flavor. Many historians trace its origins to the famous Taiwanese tea houses Chun Shui Tang in Taichung and Hanlin Tea Room in Tainan, both of which claim to have created the original pearl milk tea.
Traditional bubble tea was often made with Assam black tea, prized for its deep malty flavor that stands up beautifully to milk and brown sugar. We’ve taken those classic flavors and transformed them into an unforgettable frozen dessert.
