Sinclair House History Part 1✨

Two brothers who built the prominent Sinclair Brother’s Department Store in Carthage in 1907 decided to each build a stately new house. 🏠

The home we purchased in 2024 was the Charles Sinclair house. Built in 1914 by a Raleigh architect named Frank B. Simpson.

There was significant damage to the home due to the large portico having to be demolished. Parts of the home covered and not waterproof were now exposed to the elements. We have chosen to restore her exterior without reinstating the portico but still believe it holds just as much beauty as without.

We hope you follow along as we showcase the historical restoration efforts!

From transforming the grand foyer floor into a beautiful checkerboard masterpiece to taste-testing new recipes for the tea room, every brushstroke, every laugh, and every helping hand has been part of this journey.

From barbells to teacups. 🏋️🫖

After the corporate world, we started a family training center in Lake Norman, Champions Sports Performance, that we ran for 12 years. When our first granddaughter arrived we moved to the raleigh area and began looking for the perfect house where we could live and have a small tearoom
Business.

After 2 1/2 years of searching, we came across the Charles T. Sinclair house in Carthage, NC. We couldn’t be happier with our decision! Small town living is wonderful. So lucky to have a supportive husband that actually likes to do house projects. It has its ups and downs but we tell ourselves daily.., this is fun!!!

We can’t wait to begin welcoming you this fall into our home for good fellowship, tasty tea, and memories to last a lifetime. ❤️

Yesterday was summer solstice! We think it’s the happiest day of the year for all our flowers☀️🌻

Renovating also means tackling the outside and bringing beauty through landscaping. These flowers truly are a labor of love. 🌹🪻
