Today, we celebrate two extraordinary people who have been a part of our lives for more than two decades — our dear friends, Kwanza Jones and José E. Feliciano.

The world is celebrating them for making history as the first couple of color to lead the ownership of a Major League Baseball franchise, after their group was unanimously approved by Major League Baseball’s 30 club owners to take control of the San Diego Padres.

But for those of us who have known Kwanza and José for years, we know this moment is about so much more than baseball.

It is about vision. Partnership. Love. Community. Excellence. And purpose.
One of the things that has always impressed us most about this beautiful couple is their shared commitment to one another and to the communities they touch every single day. They have never been people who simply talk about making a difference — they LIVE it.

And now, if you'll allow us to be just a little selfish…

🎶 WHEN LEGENDS LINK UP, LEGACY IS IN THE ROOM! 👑

There are moments in life when you realize you’re not simply standing in a room—you’re standing shoulder to shoulder with history.

I had the extraordinary pleasure of spending time with two phenomenal icons of music and community leadership, the legendary Paul Jackson, Jr. and the incomparable Fernando Pullum, at the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center in Leimert Park.

And let me tell you… the energy in that room was SPECIAL! 🙌🏾🔥
🎸 Paul Jackson, Jr. — one of the most respected guitarists in the music industry, whose incredible musicianship has placed him alongside some of the greatest recording artists and productions in music history, including the legendary Michael Jackson.

🎺 Fernando Pullum — an accomplished musician, educator, and community champion whose remarkable career includes touring and performing with the incomparable Ray Charles, while dedicating his life to developing and empowering the next generation of young musicians.
But here's what makes these two gentlemen truly ICONIC to me:
They didn't just make history—they're helping young people write their own.

That's what LEGACY looks like.
It's not about how many records you've sold, how many stages you've performed on, how many celebrities you've met, or how many accolades sit on your shelf.

Legacy is what happens when you turn around and reach back.
Standing beside Paul and Fernando reminded me that our greatest responsibility isn't simply to celebrate where we've been—it's to make sure the young people coming behind us have an opportunity to go even further.

That is what paying it forward is all about.
From the stages of Hollywood and the world's greatest concert halls to the streets and classrooms of Leimert Park, the culture continues to live through those willing to share their knowledge, open doors, and invest in the next generation.

I'm grateful for the brotherhood, the laughter, the stories, the wisdom—and most importantly, the shared commitment to COMMUNITY.

Three brothers. Different journeys. One common purpose: LIFTING AS WE CLIMB. ❤️

Today, the entire Darrow’s New Orleans Grill Family joins countless others in celebrating an iconic businessman, visionary, champion, humanitarian, and community builder—Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jr.
