The Martin Family Has Big News: Introducing Shay & Bryce Rowland
In June 2023, Jason and I opened Buzzard’s Coffee in my hometown of Carrollton, Georgia. After living in different states, tasting coffees from all over, and falling in love with the magic of a truly special shop, we set out to build something of our own. With the help of incredible roasters—like Charles from Boxcar and our friends at Sweet Bloom in Colorado—Buzzard’s was born.
Jason built the business side. I brought the branding and design to life. Together, we poured our hearts into this space, pulling from different pieces of ourselves to create a coffee shop that felt like home—for us, for this town, and for all of you. Buzzard’s has been more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee. It’s been the backdrop for first dates, business meetings, study sessions, morning rituals, and deep conversations between friends. It has been a space where life happened, and that has been the greatest honor of all.
From the very beginning, Carrollton welcomed us with open arms. This wasn’t just a business—it was our love letter to the place that raised me. Every espresso pulled, every cup poured, every conversation across the counter was filled with the kind of warmth and connection that made all the hard work worth it.
As life does, it has called us into a new season. Our family is relocating to the West Coast. Originally, our plan was to continue running Buzzard’s from afar, trusting our incredible team to keep it thriving. But then—enter Shay and Bryce Rowland.
We’ve been approached before about selling Buzzard’s, but this was different. Some things just align in a way that feels beyond coincidence—this was one of those moments. Shay and Bryce have been loyal customers from day one, people who saw and felt what Buzzard’s was all about. The more we talked, the more we knew: this shop was never just ours—it was meant to be shared.
Handing over something you’ve built from the ground up is no small thing, but we have absolute trust and confidence that Buzzard’s will only grow stronger in their hands. They’re not here to change it; they’re here to honor it. They love this community, this space, and this coffee just as much as we do.
To our employees, our roasters, our customers, and this town we love: thank you. For believing in us. For showing up, cup after cup. For making Buzzard’s what it is. This is not a goodbye—it’s an expansion of the dream.
“The best way to honor something is to carry it forward, not to hold it back. Let the story continue.”
So, Carrollton, meet your new Buzzard’s family. Shay and Bryce, we couldn’t be more honored to pass this torch to you.
And who knows? Maybe one day, Buzzard’s Coffee West Coast will be brewing…
With love,
The Martin Family- Jason, Chelsea, Poppy, Finn, Sage, Jonah, Ozzie & Birdie
