UPDATE: It’s been one week.
A very long and painful week. We were on the eve of our busiest weekend. We finally had an all star team. We were planning fantastic summer events. Abruptly we lost our identity and daily mission with an electrical fire in the basement. So we’ve grieved all week. Now we get back up and deal.
Good news: no structural damage just a lot of smoke. We will need a deep clean, paint, and ceiling tiles. Restoration underway tomorrow. Most family keepsakes are safe. Everything else is just stuff.
The obstacles: We have no official timeline. My mom’s cookbook was lost. We are short about 100 of our beloved coffee cups. It is one of the most traumatic events I have experienced.
I have finally made it back to my faith and trust in the universe. The trust that everything works out just as it should. It doesn’t mean that perspective is free from loss or heartache. Thank you everyone for the endless messages, cards, flowers, and support. It was beyond my mental load to respond to many. Onward and upward.
