Dear all,

It is with immense sadness that I must announce the closure of Basil after all these years in business.

Several factors have contributed to this incredibly difficult decision—including the current economic climate, a significant decline in business, rising labor costs, inflation, and the overall shift in the restaurant industry, as many of you have seen firsthand. Despite my best efforts, I am no longer able to continue operating.

I want to thank all the guests who have supported Basil Carmel over the past 20+ years. Your patronage has meant the world to me, and this has been an extremely difficult decision to make.

I am deeply saddened, but at the same time incredibly grateful to my employees, who have done an outstanding job every single day. You are the heart of what made Basil special.

Thank you as well to the entire community of Carmel-by-the-Sea and the Monterey Peninsula. Your support and kindness will always stay with me.

I will remember you all with an open heart and endless gratitude for allowing me to be part of this wonderful community and for supporting my dream for so many years.
