Cretia Cakes was honored to be part of the inaugural opening celebration for the Black Wealth Crawl in Indianapolis.

This citywide effort brings people together to shop, support and invest in Black-owned businesses across our community. It is about more than making a purchase. It is about keeping dollars in our neighborhoods, supporting entrepreneurs and building wealth in Indianapolis.

Thank you to By Design, the City of Indianapolis, the Indy Chamber and the Indy Black Chamber of Commerce for bringing this event together and creating space for Black-owned businesses to be seen, supported and celebrated.

We were proud to join fellow business owners, community leaders and supporters at the opening celebration.

Fresh focaccia, made with patience and plenty of olive oil. ✨🥖

There’s something so satisfying about watching simple ingredients transform into a golden, airy loaf, especially when the dough is dimpled, topped with herbs, and baked until the edges are perfectly crisp.

Today’s kitchen therapy: mixing, proofing, dimpling, and creating that irresistible olive-oil crust. Serve it warm with soup, use it for sandwiches, or enjoy it straight from the pan.
What would you top your focaccia with: rosemary and sea salt, roasted garlic, tomatoes, or caramelized onions?

From student, to commencement speaker, to alumna mentor, to business owner serving the next generation of law students.

This week, I was honored to participate in a roundtable luncheon with incoming students, sharing insights from my journey as a Master of Jurisprudence graduate. Today, I delivered cake pops from Cretia Cakes for IU McKinney’s Call to Profession event.

Thank you to IU McKinney School of Law for supporting alumni-owned businesses and demonstrating that the relationship with students doesn’t end at graduation. I am grateful to be part of a community that values education, entrepreneurship, and service.

Being here in New York, working across these beautiful facilities, feels like walking inside a dream that I prayed for. From the prep kitchen before the show to partnering with botanical gardens being on site, every day is a reminder that pastry arts can live anywhere gardens, golf courses, cafés, and beyond.

The younger staff made sure I was good transporting the ingredients from one building to the next. Everyday they come in, “Good morning Chef, you good, you need anything?? When are getting off…ok we gone come back and see if you need a ride”. The place is huge so they drive golf carts. Over all, New Uork is very hospitable. I’m grateful for this company that invest in team and for the opportunity to help train staff and develop new formulas especially for our gluten-free and vegan guests.

This visit isn’t just work; it’s a blessing. It’s proof that your gifts can travel, open doors, and create space for others. Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep creating. Your recipes, your vision, and your story belong in rooms and cities you haven’t even seen yet. 🌱☮️ 🌺

Excited to launch a new pastry program in New York where I’ll be training the team on pastry fundamentals, formulas, and production systems. I’ll be focusing on recipe development, creating dietary-friendly alternatives, and building processes that keep quality and consistency at the center of every plate.

Grateful for the opportunity to bring my experience as a pastry chef, business owner, and educator into this next chapter and to collaborate with a talented team as we shape what’s next in pastry and guest experience…stay tunes for the next!💖🍪

🦕 Yesterday, I got to tour the world’s largest children’s museum, and WOW... I am absolutely amazed! 🦕

Like many people, I thought I knew what The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis had to offer. I was wrong!

As a Ph.D. student, the researcher and lifelong learner in me was completely geeking out. Did you know they have archaeologists on site who actually share insights about the incredible discoveries and projects they’re currently working on? I even got the opportunity to touch the tooth of a dinosaur they’re actively studying! 🤯

And let me tell you—this place is not just for children. From behind-the-scenes collections to fascinating exhibits, there are hidden gems around every corner. I saw pieces of my childhood, including the Care Bears, explored collections that span generations, and learned how much work goes into preserving history for future generations.

What impressed me most was how eager the museum team is to hear from the community. They genuinely want input and ideas as they continue creating extraordinary experiences for visitors of all ages.

Did I mention they have a theater? 🎭
This visit reminded me that curiosity doesn’t have an age limit. Whether you’re 8 or 80, there is something here that will inspire, educate, and amaze you.

Indianapolis is home to a true treasure, and yesterday, I discovered there is so much more to this museum than I ever imagined.

💖 Thank you, Children’s Museum, for reminding me that learning can still feel like an adventure.
